Stamp Taxes Manager

A long-term local resident, and a lawyer by profession, Hilary has been an integral part of the Peterborough business community for over 40 years.

After taking a BA (Hons) degree in English at Leeds University in the 1970s, Hilary followed a career in private legal practice, specialising in property, taxation and estate-planning. Her professional skills have enabled her to be an integral part of various businesses in the legal and other sectors.

In a voluntary capacity she was for many years a board member of a large local housing association and served on its audit sub-committee.

At AA Chartered Accountants, Hilary’s skills and experience, and her aptitude and enthusiasm for lifelong learning, have enabled her to assist clients over a range of issues, including Inheritance Tax planning  and advice on legal points related to property and companies. She now concentrates mainly on Stamp Duty Land Tax issues and is in demand nationally for advice on SDLT and for tax reclaims.

In addition, she researches and writes a lot of the content for our publications, and has also successfully represented clients in negotiations and before the Tribunal. Her enquiring mind, can-do attitude, and genuine empathy when working with clients make her a valued member of the team.

When not at work, Hilary’s main interests are reading, music, and design and crafts.
