Tim Fife
VAT Specialist
Tim is the current chair of the North of England VAT Practitioners Group and regularly presents on the VAT issues in our region.
In 1989 Tim joined HMRC, working in an import entry section, giving him knowledge of imports and exports. When he left HMRC he was a VAT inspector, having worked in the cash teams, investigation teams and the large trader section.
He left HMRC and joined a large North East accountancy firm where he developed his skills gained with HMRC. He has worked in the accountancy world since 1996.
Prior to starting his own company he was the VAT director of a top 40 firm of accountants looking after 12 offices. Tim has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the complexities of VAT.
Tim understands the pressures that HMRC can impress upon any business. He has experience of having worked for HMRC and can therefore better understand the mind-set of a VAT inspector and be able to anticipate the approach by HMRC and answer the question before the officer asks the question.
Tim prides himself on taking a no-nonsense approach to VAT. The core principal of his business is the delivery of bespoke solutions to VAT issues. He always simplifies the issues by addressing the crux of the matter and avoids plotting unrealistic courses of action.
Tim’s specialisms include the following business sectors; Construction, land and property, not for profit, international trade, care homes and the education sector.
